On the morning of 4 December 2023, a powerful 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck the island of Masbate in the central Philippines on Monday. The earthquake was recorded at a depth of approximately 82 kilometers and was felt in nearby areas including the cities of Mindanao, Philippines. The correct time at which tremors were felt was around 01:19:42.
This news was confirmed by the National Centre for Seismology. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology issued a tsunami warning for nearby coastal areas, but it was later lifted. As per the sources on Saturday, a strong earthquake triggered tsunami warnings around the area of the Pacific region, and Philippines people experienced 3 earthquakes over 2 days.
As of now, there have been two people have been killed and several injured after Saturday’s earthquake reports of casualties or damages, but rescue and relief efforts are ongoing.
