Beverly Hills Cop 4 First Photo Released of Eddie Murphy Back as Axel Foley

Paramount Pictures has released the first official photo from the highly anticipated Beverly Hills Cop 4 film, with Eddie Murphy reprising his iconic role as intelligent Detroit detective Axel Foley. The image features Murphy in his signature leather jacket and his trademark smile, suggesting that the fourth installment of the franchise will not disappoint fans of the original films. The upcoming action-comedy film is directed by Adil Al Arabi and Bilal Fallah and is expected to be released in theatres.

The actor and comedian will be reprising the character of Axel nearly 30 years after Beverly Hills Cop 3 premiered.

The screenplay for Beverly Hills Cop 4 is written by Will Beall, and the film is produced by Eddie Murphy along with Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films. Executive producers are Charisse Hewitt Webster and Ray Angelique.

The first look photo released by Netflix shows Axel Foley, played by Eddie Murphy, with his hands raised and wearing a Detroit Lions jacket. He confronts the pair of policemen along with some onlookers standing behind them and replays the incident on his phone.

The franchise moved from Paramount to Netflix in 2019 and follows the exploits of Detroit policeman Foley, who first appeared in the 1984 hit that took him to Beverly Hills Cop 4 to solve a friend’s murder.

It is noteworthy that this film became one of the biggest hits and brought Eddie Murphy international stardom. After becoming a hit, the makers came up with two sequels, one in 1987 and the other in 1994.

The film was also a box office hit and grossed $234 million in its debut in the United States. The film also became the highest-grossing domestic release of 1984 and received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay in 1985.
