Hanukkah is an eight-day Jewish “festival of lights” It’s celebrated with a menorah lighting, special prayers, and fried food.

The meaning of Hanukkah in Hebrew is “dedication” and it’s because it honors the rededication of the Holy Temple more than 2,000 years ago after the Jews defeated the occupying Greek armies.

When Hanukkah will be celebrated in 2023?

Hanukkah festival will be started at nightfall on December 7 and will end on December 15, and it’s usually celebrated in December every year.

How is the Festival of Light Hanukkah celebrated?

On this day people celebrate this festival in their traditional way like lighting the candles of a menorah, a candelabra with eight branches, and a place for a night candle in the center, for each night of Hanukkah.

One candle is lit on the first night of the Hanukkah festival starting day and one candle is lit per night until the menorah is fully lit at the end of eight days of the Hanukkah festival.

Due to the importance of candle lighting Hanukkah is called The Festival of Lights. Hanukkah day people celebrate this day on their way as people celebrate cook fried foods such as latkes with applesauce, rugelach pastries, and deep-fried or jelly doughnuts.
